Bespoke, Custom Website Development

Bespoke or Custom Website's refers to a system that doesn't fit the cookie cutter mold. Custom websites can range anywhere from an specialist E-Commerce store to an online game.

Sometimes, an off the shelf product doesn't meet a businesses requirements and quite often a simple CRM or CMS can handle the majority of a business web presence, However, if you're a business that needs more than just a informational website, you'll most likely going to need some customised work done.

Sometimes, No matter how much you try, you just can find the right plugin or your chosen CRM just doesnt have what you're looking for. So, If you're dreaming of something big, if you have a project in mind that other website studios wont touch, <blott.dev> want to chat. We specialise in creating websites for those companies that dont fit into the typical mould.

Content Management Systems (CMS)

A content management system (CMS) is a software application that can be used manage your own website. This means that you can add new content, change prices or update product descriptions without needing to know code. A CMS allows you to turn your everyday static website into a powerful, easily adjustable web presence with little to no experience required.

At <blott.dev>, we can recommend various packages for those businesses that want a simple yet flexible web presence. We can install, customise and adapt various open-source packages to suite your needs.

Open-source means that the initial coding base of these packages are free. With huge ranges of themes, templates and plugins for all of the major packages like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and Magento your business will have no ongoing licensing fees and is the content can be easily managed by pour business.

Search Engine Optimisation(SEO)

Search Engine Optimisation the art of getting your website to rank highly on a search engine results page (SERP) and it takes a real artist to know how to do it. There are multiple ways you can get 'rankings'. Natural or more commonly called Organic rankings are the hardest, but more beneficial in the long run whereas Pay Per Click(PPC) will cost you a fee to show your link, and again when people clink on the link to your site.

It's important to not get blown away from all the fancy words use by those that do SEO, on-site optimisation, off-site optimisation, page rank, page weight, link building, long tail keywords, Short tail keywords, page title, link text, anchor text, Header text, Domain weight, Domain Authority... All of these are important, but only to the programmer that's doing your SEO.

Talk to some professionals in the industry and they'll most likely tell you that they gauge their success on 'how high rank on google' or by a pure traffic increase. But, this can be fools gold. Ranking for quality key words is more important than ranking at all. Consider this: If you're in the business of selling gold and diamond rings and rank in the top 3 positions for the key word 'swimming safety rings' and it doubles your site traffic, is it really going to convert to sales?

At <blott.dev>, we like to think of SEO as a marathon and not a sprint. You wont see results instantly. It could take weeks or months before you see results and event then, more weeks or even months to see a traffic boost! Therefore, we like to recommend a joint SEO strategy with both a Pay-per-click as well as a solid investment in organic search results.

SEO is a big investment in both time and money, but, to be a successful business online it really is a must do. You cant get sales if no one knows about your company and with competition from all around the world, your business cant afford not to invest in an SEO strategy.

E-Commerce

E-Commerce is simply a website that can facilitate buying and selling goods or services. E-Commerce is a really import aspect of doing business online.

The <blott.dev> team highly recommend a combination of WordPress & WooCommerce. They are both robust, secure and are powerful E-Commerce partnership for the majority of online businesses

<blott.dev> can also build a custom payment portal, linking to any of your chosen credit card payment systems. Be it an online company like PayPal or directly to your banks payment gateway, we can create it for you.

WordPress Themes & Custom Plugin Development

Lets face it, WordPress is fantastic. With it's huge range of plugins and there is a plethora of design templates out there, for the majority of businesses WordPress has everything you could ever need. However, if your business is a little out of the ordinary, sometimes standard WordPress themes or plugins wont cut it. This is where <blott.dev> comes in. We can install, and build custom Wordpress themes, plugins and API integration.

WordPress is a winner in many ways and if whether you company is looking to create an online presence, or sell a range of products online there is almost a guarantee that there is a design out there that you like and the plugins you needs to get going.

Mobile App Development

Mobile Applications

Mobile apps are on the quickest growing media platforms. You can create a mobile app for just about anything you can imagine and with the ability to write apps for systems like iOS, Android, Windows phone, Symbian, Blackberry you can cover just about any mobile device your customers may own.

There are three main platforms that run of 3 different programming languages:

  • iOS on Objective-C or Swift
  • Android on Java
  • Windows Phone on Net

these three platforms cover the vast majority of handheld and portable devices that are on the market today.

On all three of these platforms, you can there are 3 types of apps:

  • Native Apps
  • Hybrid Apps
  • Web Apps

With these three app types, you can cover just about any app feature you can dream of and all three of them vary so that you can fight find the right app, for the right budget and maintenance levels.

Native Apps

Native Apps are developed exclusively for each operating system. App built for systems like iOS, Android, Windows phone, Symbian, Blackberry require your programmer to be able to create multiple versions of your app in various codes. They require the most amount of coding and therefore take the longest to develop.

If a native app is done right, if will run the fastest and can run a more custom set of commands as well as having access to more features on the device than the other types of apps.

Hybrid Apps

Hybrid Apps offer a combination of 'online' and 'offline' features. they can send and retrieve data from a webserver as well as store it locally for future use. these apps only require sporadic internet connections and for the most part, can function without it. (some features may still need a connection)

These apps are built using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript to display their information. They offer a smaller range on features than a Native Application but can still use some function of a device like the camera and geolocation (GPS location) etc.

These apps are faster and easier to develop as they offer a much smaller code requirement and almost all platforms can display the same code base.

Web Apps

Web Apps are simular to Hybrid applications in that they too that run the devices build in web browser engine to display web-based content and these apps run code that are written in HTML5, JavaScript and CSS. Where they differ is that all of the data in a Web Application is hosted on your company's server and the app is effectively a closed off web browser

They are Perfect for a company that simple wishes to produce an app that displays their website. They can display basic information and send and receive data from their users. The display code will be on a web server and read to the device on request thus requiring and working internet connection for the app to work.

These apps offer less device functions and can be relatively restrictive if you require more than simple data sharing in your application.

Server API

Whist technically a web technology, A server API is often required for a Mobile Application to communicate with your system. Server API's allow your apps to retrieve and send data from your app to your own database.

Most Server API's are written using markup languages such as Protocol Buffers, YAML, XML, JSON or other formats.

At <blott.dev>, we believe that each markup has its advantages. We like to use JSON for pure data transfers and XML for transfers that include display properties.
